Back problems and wintry conditions

Since we came back home from Rio Maior last Sunday we have had wintry conditions. Some days we had snow, other days less than 5 degrees and rain. It has been windy most of the week, too. Not the best training conditions, especially in April !! Today it's warming up a little and we finally have over 10 degrees Celsius (11), but it's still raining and it's windy :-(

These conditions are not the best for my back problems. My back got really bad after flying back home to Norway. I could not sit, because then I got so stiff I almost couldn't get back up on my legs. In the morning I had problems getting out of bed, too. I was able to train, but not any fast work. I had a fartlek on my program for last Wednesday, but I had problems walking fast. I was not able to walk faster then 5 min/km in the fast parts for the first half of the Fartlek, at the end I walked 4.55 min/km for the faster parts... This was of course much slower than normally. It was not painfull, it was just not possible to walk faster. My legs did not want to move. I got treatments on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday last week. Everyday I became a little bit better... Since Saturday I have been able to train pretty good again, but still my back is not OK. I have some exercises I have to do every day and they help. Now I just have to be patient and do all the right things for my back. It's just one more week until the next IAAF Race Walking Challenge race in Sesto San Giovanni, Italy.
